Second & third time around

20/1/2017

We are still working on the same project as last time.
That in a 10 meter long corridor I throw 1 meatball and the dog gets "Yaaa" and is allowed to eat it - 3 times in a row.
The 4th time I blow stop quite far from the meatball, when the dog sits down and relaxes it is allowed with a "Yaaa" to go and eat it. Then I let the dog come closer and closer until Becca ignores my signal and takes it (this time around too and three times in a row...) and then I drop the meatball when she is close to me and make a correction and then i throw it and blow a bit earlier - Then and then all of a sudden we are in exact the same position as with the birds, she advances slowly and I need to let her know with more than one"Yaaa" that it is okay to eat the meatball. And then we repeat, and the third time of the whole process we finally get it right.
I  throw 1 meatball and she gets "Yaaa" and is allowed to eat it - 3 times in a row.

The 4th time I blow stop quite far from the meatball, when she sits down and relaxes she is allowed with a "Yaaa" to go and eat it. Then I let her come closer and closer until she is side by side with the meatball and finally is able to both want the meatball and stop, and is rewarded with a "Yaaa" to take it. And we repeat once and then stop.

With Iza this time she actuallay steal the meatball, (or piece of meatball as she would be quite fat with this training otherwise), and i pick it out of her mouth... We repeat, and she tries to solve the temptation with walking around the meatball. If she does not come close to it she will not be tempted to take it... So I make her train different positions close to the meatball like sit, lay down, but stand is hard, she does not really think of standing as a position where she is stopped from doing things. For her stand is quite free, and mayby this will clearify the stand as a position where she shall be in control and not as a jolly good time. Then she makes the thing she did yesterday, she sits down and wait beside the food just in case I will blow the whistle.
So we will continue this work for some time and now I have to go to the store to buy more meatballs ;)

So the third time around Becca ended up doing the Iza thing, sitting down spontaniously! And Iza got to the slow avance - but now they are much more clear about the signals and it too 3 meatballs to get to the top result this far with Becca and 1 with Iza. There is real progress in this.
So if I could find meatballs that fly and have the scent of partridge we could really be getting there ;)

Well all of us write here, both humans and dogs ;) At least that was the plan but it seems it´s mostly me Robyn who´s attached to the keyboard...
