When I thought throwing dummies would be a great distraction while doing obedience, Iza thought that finally is this obedience thing leading to something... She thought that we are stepping up the game and adding a new level to this, and was soooooo disappointed with me and my training methods. Then we went on to do pure retrieving, but when I commanded search and retrieve and there were no quail hidden i the grass she was quite disappointed with me again. This is babys play, throwing tiny dummies while retrieving a stone dead thing. So we have spent the afternoon doing things like retrieving on the outdoor table. Jumping down to my lap from higher levels. Keeping eye contact through a mirror, and such things. Hopefully we will be more in tune tomorrow... And Yes I obviously have to step up my game when it comes to retrieving and Iza, because I´m boring her to death. She does what I aske her to do, but there need to be so much more to keep her on her toes.
Becca did a splendid retrieving work. The thing with throwing out two, and while retrieving those throwing others, stopping, and sending her on another. No matter if it was one of the first or the newly thrown ones, she managed perfectly and was so proud with herself. That was my plan for Iza, doing a thing she would manage, and feel proud and satisfied with. Becca is so pleased with her work, and I´m with her. Hrm I got to think twice for something extra for Iza to get that ego boozt from. Ebba did a work about details in placing while heeling. Hind control work and eye contact was the second part we worked on today. She has been a bit up and down in mood as she is changing teeth and has been very, very swollen in her mouth. Chewing treats and carry is not the most fun work to do then, so we have focused on other things lately or been using tiny little toys. But today she lifted the heavy wooden dummy again. It´s not a goal in it self, more a test of how motivated she is to carry. Next week I´m going to take her to try different obstacles in the agility area at the club, but this week working around home will have to be good enough. As we are of to build the run for the partridge chickens tonight, obedience competing tomorrow, checking in our soon old enough to move Chesapeak Bay puppy on Thursday and of to Tvååker or the dog show on Friday and Saturday. Then there will be a break from any competition until next Friday and Iza´s third obedience competition. And after that there will be 7 days of rest until the next one and the Kennel Club Show in Köping. Hrm since when did i consider 7 days a long break? I´ve got to have hitten my head hard lately ;) Kommentarerna är stängda.
