So what have we been up to lately? If you ask Becca we've been eating treats most of the time, I would like to call it clicker training, but I'm not sure if she agrees with me at all. The target training, in her opinion she finally found the 'feed me button'. This specific Targeting is supposed to be teaching her to put her nose against my hand, and that can be useful in several different situations when working on details, but this far it's mostly about eating 😅
iza can not believe her eyes, it can not be that simple, just the nose against a hand. So she is trying it with sitting and doing the nose push, then lays down and do the nose push and finally standing and tries the same thing 🤣
Nothing can be that simple is her opinion.
We have mostly worked on miner projects the last four days. Becca with the word heel, which in her opinion is something like sitting quite close to me, but in what direction does not really matter to her. We have been working on the contact, the command retrieve (that even if I am on the other side of a door, it should mean pick it up. We have worked on the word jump, with out any other signal but the word. And we have worked on gaining speed in different commands like come here, sit, laying down and stop. Our new challenge is except for heel, also the stand signal.
Iza has been working on jump, if I put a square shaped bucket in the middle of a room or the ground and say jump, she's supposed to run to the bucket and jump over it. The word square is starting to make sense and she can be up to two meters from the magazine we use for putting her paws on. We haven't been working that much on left and right, but it seems to be going in the right direction. Heel is definitely a sure position on my left side and she can correct her self 2-3 times if she doesn't get it right. The signals for sit, lay down and stand has been a double command on about 4-6 meters, but can now be used both by her side, just in front of her and with just the word.
And finally heel can be done outdoors! She has had a tendency to be dragging a bit, so yesterday I pushed and pushed for her to speed up and be a bit further up on my left side. She got a bit confused and after that she didn't ask for any more work. That was a first and I was afraid that I had pushed for too much. So we just cuddled and did targeting yesterday eve.
Today she had digested it all and was so speedy and of course she was a little to much in front of me. But we can work with that and find a balanced position during next week.
Oh and we have bought some cones (which Iza thought was for retrieving) and wood 'dummies' for the obedience, which Becca thought where chewing bones 🙈
So tomorrow is bath and pedicure day with new schampo melon for Becca and plum for Iza, so If we smell like a fruit basket in Malmo you know why 😷🤓😜
Well all of us write here, both humans and dogs ;) At least that was the plan but it seems it´s mostly me Robyn who´s attached to the keyboard...
