Well the Book about Bracco in Swedish is almost done 😅 I just have to translate it and write one about American cockers and one about Chesapeake to. But that’s definitely no hurry.
Otherwise Ebba is here for a SPA week, I don’t know if she actually think of that as a treat or a threat though 😜
It’s great to have her around though and we are really looking forward to some Ebba babies in the future. It’s fun to see how much she remembers from her last stay, we worked on the command jump at a fence then, and after one rehearsal she was back where we left last time. You got to love that ability.
Otherwise Iza is in the almost 2 years old state of mind and probably a false pregnancy upon that... Well she is building herself little nests, are unfocused (for being Iza) and well isn’t really herself. Fingers crossed for her being Iza in March when I’ve entered her for some obedience competitions 😅
Becca and I continue to work on reverse temptation, making her focus on my eyes and not the treats.
And Hagel is moving on quickly now! It’s a surprise to work with a dog that becomes more focused when we go away and work in new places. I don’t think I have ever had a dog that work that way, they usually get unfocused when we go to new grounds and groups.
I read such an inspiring article yesterday in #Brukshunden about a dog born with deafness who still made it to the Swedish championship. I really liked the thought of not using sounds or voice when working with a dog. The voice is not always an opportunity and it’s way too easy to use your voice in and angry or disappointed way, instead of showing or helping your dog to the behaviour you seek. It’s like using a leash when you want to make your dog heel- more often you destroy more than you are building...
I also tried to find information about how the pointers and gundogs where trained in history and when we started to relying on a whistle signal instead of body language. I haven’t found anything yet but I’m looking into it as it really interesting to a nerd 🤓 like me.
Well all of us write here, both humans and dogs ;) At least that was the plan but it seems it´s mostly me Robyn who´s attached to the keyboard...
